Lettre d'amour

'Twas a rainy night, and in the hour late

Thou held my hand so tightly, with fate

I ran to thee, my heart aflame aglow

Thy bright smile welcomed me, and so

Our eyes met, and time did stand still

A deep breath taken before I could fill

The silence with words of love and devotion

To unknown places, with thee, my heart's motion

The bitter cold of winter's night

Thy warm embrace did comfort and ignite

The more the merrier, they do say

Closer to thee I pulled, for I could not stray

I did not believe in love at first sight

But thy silhouette, in the morning light

And in the dim streetlight, lingers on

Thy memory forever, though time hath gone

I try to resist, yet my heart doth take flight

A flutter within, though all shall be right

The scent of fresh limes from thy sweatshirt, sweet

And gentle kisses, thy touch so fleet

I wish to speak of the emotions within

But all I do is dwell in the moment's spin

Blind was I, not to see thee near

But now, the truth doth make it clear

Thou asked of me, what I do adore

'Tis the little things, forevermore

Thy kind heart and sweet words doth ring

Memories fade, but the past doth cling

As I bid farewell, with a smile, not a tear

I shall remember the joy, the laughter, dear

The love that we shared, forever in my heart

For thou, my love did play the leading part.

  1. It’s amazing how the internet can bring back memories we thought were long gone. I never imagined I’d come across your words after all these years—almost like finding a hidden chapter in a story I thought had ended. It's hard to believe that the person I once admired from a distance, back when our paths crossed daily , now shares such profound thoughts. Life has a strange way of reviving cherished memories."
